  • Temagami Area Fish Involvement Program
    Fish Hatchery on Lakeshore Dr. Operated by a volunteer group of interested people with the primary objective of improving the walleye fish stocks in Temagami area lakes.

  • Caribou Mountain Lookout
    A lookout platform located on the western edge of Caribou Mountain and accessed by turning right off O'Conner Dr. to Jack Guppy Way and proceeding to the clubhouse at the end of the road.

  • White Bear Forest Trails
    A system of trails beginning at the base of Caribou Mountain and spreading out to Cassels and Snake Lakes. Information available at the Temagami Travel Information Centre.

  • Visiting & Local Artist Gallery in Information Centre
    Come see the work of area artists on display throughout the summer.

  • The Loft Art Gallery

  • Temagami Canoe Company
    Temagami Canoe Company, located in the village of Temagami, is Canada's second oldest canoe builder.* It is dedicated to wood-canvas canoe construction. Founded in 1929 by Bill Smith, the company was bought by Steve and John Kilbridge in 1978. Today it is operated by John. The old shop (left) was built in 1933. It still contains the old boiler for generating steam to run the saws and soften the ribs for bending.

  • The Temagami Tower
    The 100-foot high Temagami Fire Tower stands on the summit of Caribou Mountain, 400' above the town and 1300' above sea level. The cupola at the top of the tower commands a view in excess of 40 kilometres, overlooking Finlayson Provincial Park, the White Bear Forest with it's stands of old growth pine and the town's Portage Bay with it's float plane base and water traffic.

  • Finlayson Point Provincial Park
    located 1 km south of the town of Temagami, situated on Lake Temagami. A small museum features displays of historic logging artifacts, old tools, and locally found fossils and minerals.

  • Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Wilderness Park
    contains scenic lookouts at Maple Mountain, and Ontario's rooftop, the Ishpatina Ridge. At 693 metres, it is Ontario's Highest point. Other popular points are the blue waters of Smoothwater and Sunnywater Lakes, numerous hiking trails and scenic waterfalls. Obabika River Waterway Park extends southwest along Lady Evelyn Lake, Diamond Lake and Obabika River.

  • Temagami is a four-season paradise,
    with excellent ice-fishing for whitefish, walleye, and northern pike. Groomed and signed snowmobile trails cover over 400 km and connect with trails leading to other areas. Accommodation and fuel are readily available. Dog sled touring is available from area lodges and outfitters as either day trip or as an overnight excursion. Excellent groomed cross country ski trail loops are maintained at several lodges, with rentals available.

  • Interpretive hiking trails
    wind through the ancient pine stands on Temagami Island. The Ferguson Trails in Ferguson Bay area and the White Bear Forest hiking trail system in the Caribou Mountain area provide varying degrees of challenge as well. The White Bear Forest is an uncut forest containing stands of old growth red and white pine, with its attendant ecosystem features. A series of looped trails provides educational as well as inspirational hike, ranging from 2 to 6 hours, or overnight if desired.

  • The Temagami Station
    The Temagami Station was built in 1907 by the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway, now the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (ONTC), an Ontario Crown Corporation. Two years later, the new stone station's interior was destroyed by fire then reconstructed immediately. A freight building and an earlier wood frame station, later used as a restaurant, shared the platform to the north, next to a garden where 'TEMAGAMI' was spelled out with flowers. At the south end of the platform, a second garden featured a small ornamental pond. Today the stone station is all that remains.

  • Fishing on "the big lake"
    and in the myriad of smaller lakes rewards the angler with lake trout, pickerel (walleye), smallmouth bass, pike and whitefish. Other lakes and streams provide speckled, brook and rainbow trout. Volunteers operate the Temagami Area Fish Involvement Program to ensure the population of these species is protected in our waters for many future generations. The program was started in 1985. Visit the hatchery on Lakeshore Dr., west of the Municipal Building.

  • Known as "Big Pine Country"
    this area boasts pristine lakes lined with old pine. The Obabika River contains wetland communities famous among nature photographers for moose observation, while the Wakimika Triangle is noted for old growth pine stands and hiking trails. Running to the northwest is the Sturgeon River Waterway Park, with over 60 sets of rapids, providing early season canoeists with plenty of whitewater fun! Completing the loop back to Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Park is the Solace Waterway Park, with its classic flatwater paddling through pristine lakes.
